An installation about memory, transformation, and the quiet dialogue between city and individual. Where streets are demolished and buildings rise, the work invites to a silent conversation with place, history, and the future. The personal meets the collective in a restrained yet fundamental act: writing.
At its centre sits a desk, a chair and a typewriter as symbols of human labour and thought. Objects that recall the human role in urban transformation and invite the visitor to take part in a collective narrative of identity, belonging and change.
The visitor is invited into a room that no longer exists, a space that has disappeared, perhaps once an office, an industrial room, a slaughterhouse, a foundry or something else erased or transformed by time and development. It is also a future room, a space that has not yet arrived. Perhaps you are standing in someone’s future kitchen.
In an open mailbox, texts are collected, each word becoming part of a conversation beyond the site. Beneath a protective roof writing becomes an act of presence.
Du skrev. Jag lyssnade functions as a holder of memories and stories at risk of disappearing in the noise of urban planning: a childhood street, a job, a love, a worry about the future shape of the city. The installation reflects the complex relationship between the past and what has yet to be built, where every story holds value.
Write a thought, a memory.
Maybe someone will respond?
